Hey guys... just posted the finale for FAT Fridaze: After Hours today... I hope you enjoy. Now you can read them all the way through from the start... I hope the story wasn't too confusing/choppy. This was a first for me... I had the first 20 strips just try and show these guys in a more controlled environment... but we are still getting to know them. I have started piecing together the last of the strips for this year, surprisingly I have too many stories... so I am trying to cut back and decide what I really want to show. I've missed Mews so I'm excited to have more stories with him soon... and since this one night took 10 weeks to tell, I thought of a way to bring the timeline up to date ;) (Insert jingle bells)
I was happy with After Hours for the most part... my goal was to have more fun with color/shadow/location etc... I wanted to take it a little further. Finally we have more plot to work with and I can build the story from there...
I am excited about the 2 new characters... Fahari and the mysterious stranger Phoenix left the house party with... they will be reoccurring...
Keep reading and let me know what you think...
Thanks guys!!

In 2 weeks I will be posting a 10 part continuing series, FAT Fridaze AFTER HOURS about Adrian & Phoenix going out for a night... we've seen them at home and in a few different scenarios, but what are these guys like when they are out? After this 10 week series the regular line-up will continue... but some of the events of this night out will effect the story from then on...
Thank you guys so much for reading my Strip, it means the world to me. I hope you all enjoy these and other future stories. I'm currently writing strips 31-52 and planning stuff for "Year 2"

Gay comic book characters
"LGBT themes in comics are a relatively new concept, as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) themes and characters were historically omitted intentionally from the content of comic books and their comic strip predecessors, due to either censorship or the perception that comics were for children.[1] With any mention of homosexuality in mainstream United States comics forbidden by the Comics Code Authority (CCA) until 1989,[2] earlier attempts at exploring these issues in the US took the form of subtle hints or subtext regarding a character's sexual orientation.[3] LGBT themes were tackled earlier in underground comix from the early 1970s onward. Independently published one-off comic books and series, often produced by gay creators and featuring autobiographical storylines, tackled political issues of interest to LGBT readers." -Wikipedia

Thank you to Jimmy Vogel and all the talented young homos working at JIMMY the zine! I am so thrilled to be a part of the line up for Issue No. 2 "The Greenwood".

"FAT Fridaze" So far...
First of all, I just want to say Thank You to everyone that has read FAT Fridaze so far :) I really appreciate it... it's still the really early stages so the kinks aren't all worked out just yet... and if you haven't read it, there is still time!! (just click........ here.)
I had been wanting to write for characters like this for a while. Gay guys that I could relate to... I hope as these guys get fleshed out other people can relate to them as well. I also like the simplicity of the format... the story can never be too long because there just isn't enough space.
I think some people are under the impression that all comic strips are LOL-athons... but really some of these aren't going to even attempt to be funny (I know the punch lines are lagging a bit on the first few, haha)... they're just little "slices" of these character's lives. The stories will range in genre as well as the art... Sometimes these guys look more "realistic" and other times they are extremely cartoony... I've done a lot of stories with Mews the cat so far too that I'm excited about.
The best part so far is that this is a great little project to work on in my down time. Sketch something out here, finish inking something there... before too long it's colored and ready to post. I am really excited about Strip: #006 that posts this Friday... the art is better (getting more comfortable with drawing these guys) and this isn't just a short little "quip"...
I've fleshed out about 20 now... and I'm really excited with where it's going already.
Thanks for checking it out you guys!!

Envira III Update!!!
I tend to do a lot of writing and sketching and planning for as long as I need to... then randomly my ideas will explode onto paper... Recently that was finally the case... I've been writing Envira 3 for months, but working out such a large story in such a small amount of pages takes me a while... I want to try and get most if not all of my ideas into the comic. Luckily I was able to do some of the things I didn't have time to do in Series II... but, as always some of my ideas for Series III will end up on the cutting room floor.
So far I have Part I almost finished, and I have drawn Parts II-IV (just need to flesh out the finale and start coloring)
Also, Series 4 is in the works... I have the villain planned out and most of the story (which has gotten more complex and developed so much more over the past month or so) I'm really excited.
This is just the tip of the iceberg with Envira, there is so much more I am going to do with her. Thank you to everyone for reading, it really means a lot :)

I'm happy to say I have started working on a graphic novel that will hopefully come out in the next year... I plan on releasing comic strips on my blog soon, I would love to do weekly but I might be able to... perhaps monthly... will start back on Envira 3 soon... I'm happy to be productive!

Envira 3 Promo Art
I haven't had a lot of free time lately to devote to Envira. I guess it is a good thing, The Cartoon has been top priority... with Envira filling in gaps an hour here and there... Series 3 is taking a while to develop because I want it to be the best so far. I'm also still working on the character design (including a villain based on my friend Krissie Torgerson) I can't wait!
Also in the works (now pushing Envira on the back burner) are 2 side mini comics for possible publish. I'm very excited about both opportunities and will post more about them as they unfold. For now I wanted to at least show a sneak peak of what to expect in the next installment of Envira.
Thanks for checking this out.
Ps. Does anyone know of any scholarships or anything for artists? I would love to be able to draw/write all the time... just thought I'd ask

I have been working on the cartoon a lot these past few weeks, so I don't have much else to show for my time... so I thought I might post some random pieces... We finally have an agency representing us... I hope we get a deal soon :) I can't wait to start working on this full time... and really can't wait for everyone to see it!
Envira III is all fleshed out story-wise... I just need to find some time to work on it ;)
Also... Wanita is still in the works... almost have a good rough draft to work with...

If I were a country singer...
and had to think up a cat themed song... it would be called:
"You only love me when I feed you soft food..."
and it would be a sad sad song.
Thank you... thank you....

Body Gallery
I was really considering a bjork tattoo for a long time, I've been really into her since I was 11 so I figured I would never get tired of it... plus, I feel like I owe her something for inspiring me so much and helping me stay on my path and pursue the things I've needed to pursue. I don't know what lyric to get, or where yet or a picture perhaps?... so I'm waiting til the right thing comes along :) (I have a few thousand ideas)
Tattoos are interesting... your body tells the story of the life that was lived in it... whether through aging, body type, skin condition (your genes/how well you've taken care of yourself/where you've lived)... Everything comes together to create you, tattoos can be a really big part of that too... I've heard stories of several women who have survived breast cancer but had to have either one or both of their breasts removed. They get a huge chest piece just to show how much they have been through. Putting artwork permanently on your body is a huge deal... you have to pick something that is timeless to you (don't want to have a tribal arm band, or lower back tattoo... nothing too faddy)... something you will always love. It's like being an art collector but you are the gallery. What you have displays your taste and interest... so it's something to definitely be thought of in depth!
I finally have decided what my next tattoo will be... not sure when I'll get it though...
Time to start investing in my body gallery.

I've been following my path as long as I knew I could take it, and I'm staying on it, because it has taken me on an amazing adventure.

Peanut Butter Soupçons
For those of us that are not so monitarily inclined, we are left with few options when it comes time to nibble. We may not always be able to indulge, but we shouldn't succumb to noxious eating patterns. (the college "Ramen diet", or Fast Food Circuit) Fortunately, having less money makes one more inventive and advantageous by nature.
I don't consider myself a great cook (more an inexperienced one) but through times of drought I have thrown together a few interesting snacks and meals that are not only healthy, but economical and copious. I feel as though I should share these things with anyone who is in need of fast, inexpensive meal options. (whether you are a starving artist, student, druggie... what have you)
I give you "Peanut Butter Soupçons"
Ingredients:
PEANUT BUTTER
I highly recommend using one of ten "Peanut Butter & Co." flavors (you can really mix it up this way)
I have chosen Skippy Natural Peanut Butter because it has little ingredients (Roasted Peanuts, Sugar, Palm Oil, & Salt.) and I can pick it up from a store within walking distance. If I have extra money for the train I can go to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods to pick up something healthier... but, they tend to also be pricier, so why not make your own?
CEREAL
Kashi Go Lean Crunch is what I currently have. It's great for this because not only does it taste great and is good for you (9g of protein to keep you full longer, 8g of fiber, and 7 Whole Grains) but it has a good texture and really completes this snack.
Directions:
Now simply take any spoon and scoop up a desired amount of peanut butter, then generously dip it in your selected cereal (that is now in a bowl or other container) and voilĂ ! Repeat as desired and you will be left feeling healthy and full... until your next craving. I know what you're thinking.
"But Daniel, that is just a spoonful of peanut butter with cereal on it"
and, good golly you're right! ... (This is also a fun snack because you can combine so many different kinds of peanut butter and cereal... the options are only as limited as your budget/kitchen contents)
If you have an oven (which I do not) and a little more money/ingredients, you can take an even bigger step with this idea. I googled peanut butter and cereal recipes just to see what all was out there and found that Skippy actually has a recipe for "CHEWY PEANUT BUTTER CEREAL COOKIES". These are great for on-the-go but have added sugar.
