I had this idea a while ago and had sketched it out. I like to change the banner as much as possible to keep it fresh. I know I get tired of seeing it myself ;)

Make sure to check out an all new comic strip tomorrow, only on FAT Fridaze

FAT Fridaze 2 & other adventures...

I recently finished new banner art (that this teaser is from). I also inked FAT Fridaze Strip 53 (the first strip of my second year of this strip series!! WHEEE!!), but will be taking a break from it to work on something else very exciting!!

I've lived in LA about 5 years now give or take and 3 1/2 of those years have been devoted to the development, creation, collaboration and often fantasy of ripping all my hair out from the stress. This roller coaster has been well worth it, for next week I will finally start the dream job I've been waiting on...

I will finally be working on a cartoon!!!!

A CARTOOOOOOON!!! :D)))

Some people wanted to be Marine Biologists when they were kids (wonder how many stuck with that) others wanted to be an astronaut... I wanted to be a "Cartoonist". At least that was the word I used for it at the time. I felt it encompassed the entire cartoon process: the brainstorming, character design, illustration, coloring, inking, story, script, music, animation, and any other technical aspect I didn't know about. (I didn't really realize that it takes a huge team of people, lot's of money and time to bring all the elements together) Luckily since then I have been working on my own projects and trying to develop all aspects of my childhood idea of Cartoonist. So far I have done all of them except animation and recording music/edtiting etc... and that is something I'm hoping to change this year or next.

I won't be animating but I had the privilege of designing the characters, illustrating and hand coloring everything. I couldn't be more thrilled/blessed!! :)

Thanks so much to Kyle Schember and Wiley Hodgden for giving me this amazing opportunity!! I will work my ass off to make this my best work!!

We have only been picked up for a pilot though, so we will be counting on the viewers to help us get picked up (fingers crossed)

More details soon :)

Thanks guys!

Envira Returns!!! Part IV

Hey Envira Fan(s) and Reader(s) of this blog!! Hehe

Part IV just posted... check it out on Low Impact Betty!

I've been working on Parts IV and V for a few weeks... and decided to rewrite the ending!... So at this point I've gone a little mad and don't know how I feel about it. Haha... The end still stays the same for the most part... but deciding how to get to that point changed... I think I will post the alternate ending after the final one posts :) that will be fun... also I am going to post an Envira sketchbook... some early sketches of her... trying to figure out her design and then some of the various villains etc.

I'm excited to finish up Part V and see how it all looks together... many things planned for Envira's near future :D

After Envira, I will be working on "Wanita" for my blog as well as a comic that I'd like to print out and put in stores... more details on that soon!...

Thanks for reading!

Envira Part II VideoBlog

The Creator of Envira! from Monica Schrock on Vimeo.

Sat down with "Monica herself" Hehe, to talk about Envira a few days ago... and this is the result. We tried to keep it short and sweet so I wanted to talk a little bit more about the Envira process... for those readers out there... here's a little more juice on making Envira come to your Computer screens weekly... Enjoy...

Like I said in the video I am working on Part III right now (about to finish inking it) I had the whole story roughly fleshed out beforehand and then started working on the promo art... I wanted to try and have this one finished quicker, but I have been pretty busy lately. I am a week ahead though so that is good... right now I just added a third page to Part III and am deciding on how the final dialogue should go...

It's tricky getting the dialogue down... I am writing different layers... Toxa and her back story and motives... Envira and how all the events are effecting her... side characters... overall story arc... although it is a mini comic and only pages it takes some time to get everything fleshed out. Then before I send it to Monica I have to make sure the dialogue flows through the whole story... and that the plot moves along at a good speed... I've added more pages to this one... the first Series I think was only 11 pages... this one might be 15 or so... :)

What you can expect to see from this Series is more of Envira outside of Green Crimefighting and a few people from her past... (as you see already in Part I) A lot of crazy shit happens to Envira in this story overall... and I can't wait to hear what people think... also, I'm excited to work on the 3rd Installment... I already have a lot of the story fleshed out in my head...

After Envira Returns is finished I will begin working on a comic that I've wanted to do for several years... inspired when I was driving in Texas (2 things that are far in my past)... haha. "Wanita the Wheelchair Witch" A story about a witch that is so bitchy and annoying she is kicked out of her coven and cursed to live with humans, has her powers taken away, and is physically crippled (in hopes that her new dependence on people around her will soften her heart) She can only be let back into her coven when she has learned to live harmoniously with others. I'm excited to start on that... also in the works are a few side projects, one with my friend Bobby that I'm really excited about and another with my friend Marcos. I can't wait to work on some more collaborative efforts this year... it is fun to take an idea on your own and mold it into a finished product... but there is a different kind of energy with a collaborative work... when you are on the right page with someone it is so much fun working with them... you end up taking the idea in directions that you might not have on your own.

Thanks for watching the video, and/or reading this .... don't forget to check out Envira: Part II posting... in hours... Monday January 17th.... only on:

I've been keeping pretty busy lately... it's nice to have several projects to work on... I talked to Monica about her new website launch... so I should have a date for when the ALL NEW Envira comic will be posted... until then here is some more Envira...
I've already sketched out several pages... I'm on part 4... trying to figure out how to end this one... dun dun duuuun. I hope everyone enjoys it... it's fun to work on :) You get to meet some people from her past and start to see a bit more about her life outside of crimefighting...
I'm also starting up on the next episode of the cartoon... I can't wait to post some illustrations from it once we launch the website for that... about 2 years in the works now...
Thank ya! Thank ya! More sooooon!!

Fecal Matters...

I've had a lazy year... I've gotten a break from life... well, I've tried to at least... but I have felt unfulfilled... I have all of these ideas in my head... and need to get them out... onto paper... put out there... in some shape or form... I wanted to print a graphic novel but haven't been able to decide on a theme etc... so... finally I have decided I should at least post some shorts on my blog... what is the point of having this thing if I'm not displaying any of my work...

This was a simple idea... it was verbatim sent to a friend over AIM to be silly... but I liked it and decided I should make a little comic out of it... hope you enjoy!! (please don't sue me "Virgina Slims"... I really couldn't afford that...) oof... more to come soon I hope... ;)

(alternate intros)

"Fun with feces..."

"Now in Fecal vision"....

"No feces were harmed in the making of this shabby comic..."

eh....
